Hello World!

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Kan or Kaneko, and I am a hobbyist artist, but recently I'm also having a lot of fun with static web development.

Why did I code a blog? Why not just settle for Blogspot or Bear Blog? Well, mostly to challenge myself, and hopefully learn how to use a new front end framework in the process. I've always hated installing node modules, so as far as possible, I've kept to using vanilla Javascript or whatever libraries that I could get through a CDN. Sorry if my coding practices are extremely questionable. But that all changes with this blog! Yay! (Not really, please don't look at the source code for this, it is still really bad.)

This blog was built using Eleventy with the help of many tutorials that I will link in a separate resources post. The process was a little easier than I thought it would be, and somehow, kind of fun? In the same way that running a marathon might be fun, maybe. For some people. Not me though. I would rather code a blog from scratch than run a marathon. The point is, it's just nice to see everything come together. This blog will also serve as a sort of scaffolding or a test for a revamp of my sketch log page that is to come. Hopefully.

As for what I'll be posting here, so far I'm planning for a mix of personal updates, project logs/ dev logs, as well as resource compilations and maybe even tutorials/ code snippets? Maybe? If I can actually clean up some of my code well enough to share it.

If you have read this post all the way until here, thank you for reading! I don't have an RSS feed or anything like that that you can subscribe to (I have no idea how to set that up yet), but I'll keep working on this blog, and my Neocities site as well. For a rundown of how I set this blog up, you can check out my first Dev Log (if you can even call it that) for this blog here.

(Alright, I'll be honest. This could all have been in one post but I needed three posts for each of the three different categories on the sidebar that I've created 😂)
